This beautiful soul - I have been waiting for the right moment to share this soul healing boudoir session with you, and now the time has come.
Her name is Shannon. She is a Wedding & Portrait Photographer and a wonderful human being. I first met Shannon early in 2018 while I was still Editor In Chief for Embrace Magazine. During our first meeting, we chatted nonstop about all things boudoir! You see, we both share a deep love for boudoir photography and the celebration of women in a positive light. So it was only natural that I wanted to collaborate with her and take my body study portraits outdoor to Coral Cave Beach in Jupiter, FL.
Shannon was in bloom. Not only was she newly flourishing, but she was also becoming. For this same reason, it was important that I captured her as one with herself and the Sea.
During 2017, life-changing events were refining her. There comes a time in our very own lives that feeling the truth is all we have left. Being aware of our own truths is one of the hardest and bravest things we do for ourselves. Shannon recently shared her story and bravely describes how acceptance and boudoir have led her to a continuing path of healing.
She shared a few words with me on how she felt when she first saw her images:
“At first, I immediately noticed all of the things I don't like about my appearance. Then, I started to sit with them and remember why I did this. I reminded myself of how incredible I am and that I survived the hardest year of my life. It's so strange how something like boudoir, which can seem so superficial and vein (from the outside) can be the very thing that reminds you that the beauty that matters is not on the outside.”
Shannon, you are right. While boudoir is not one of those tangible items that you can buy yourself to give you that feel good feeling. Boudoir is that very thing that touches our inner being all while reminding us of our beauty and strength.
