The Simplicity in Portraits | Boudoir Photographer South Florida, Denice Lachapelle

JOY

Happy New Year. Being that this is my first journal post in 2020, it seems fitting to start with those words.

I wanted to start my first journal entry of 2020 by going back to the principles I embedded early on in my work, simplicity. By no means simplicity is simple. I believe that simplicity is thoughtful, intentional, and requires you to see beyond what’s in front of you. I have always admired anything that is minimal and timeless. It’s no surprise that you have probably heard me speak on simplicity before (see more here Finding Simplicity In Your Boudoir Session) especially when it involves photographing women. That’s because naturally, I strive to create unique portraits of women that remain authentic to her. Whether I am capturing a boudoir or portrait for a woman, I want to enhance her natural beauty by allowing her to see herself without distractions. Therefore, keeping things simple.

In this portrait session with Joy, that is exactly what we did. It was important for me to focus on her natural beauty and capture the way the light fell on her body movements all while creating emotions in each portrait. This was the second time I was photographing Joy, and she was older now. You can tell by her gaze that there was something beautifully different about her. Every time I get to create with her its always a treat! Most of the portraits you will see in this post were shot in black and white film. I almost shot this entire portrait session in black and white, but the south Florida light made its way inside the studio and I am so glad I decided to shoot a roll of color film. I am left with no words by the beauty in Joy’s simple portraits. They are all just so stunning!

So, with all that being said, cheers to intentional simplicity in 2020! Cheers to a fruitful new year to you. I hope you achieve all that you have in mind. That you conquer your goals and live your intentions fully. And in the midst of you crushing your goals I also hope you find many slow moments filled with love, laughter, and tranquility.

Xo, Denice

Hi, it’s me. I am naturally shy and reserved, but I do know this…

Boudoir extends to more than just taking a portrait of a woman in lingerie. Boudoir portraiture is vulnerable. It seeks truth from both you and I.

As a boudoir photographer, my heart’s desire has always been to create boudoir imagery that uplifts and inspires Women. The connections I am able to make with Women are unforgettable. I believe that to feel the unknown is the most beautiful form of creation. Everyone has a gift within them. Something to give, a story to tell. I want to be there to capture your inner self and help tell that story.

This is my wish for you: for you to experience a celebration of yourself like never before. To connect with whom you are on a deeper level, because you are deserving of your love.

xo,
